
ACM SPY
Czech ACM Chapter & Slovakia ACM Chapter Student Project of the Year (ACM SPY) is a competition awarding the best diploma and thesis work in the field of informatics and information technology.
The aim is to support students in working even harder in their studies, and to utilise the results of their studies in practice. The competition is open to students of Czech and Slovak Universities who complete their studies with an MA thesis or BA thesis in academic year 2010/2011 and the topic of their thesis is related to informatics and information technology.
The competition is divided into 2 categories:
- MA: the winner receives a cash award of 1000 €, and the thesis supervisor receives 200 €,
- BA: the winner receives a cash award of 300 €, and the thesis supervisor receives 100 €,
The winners of both categories are announced at the final round that takes place at the end of October/November 2011 in Prague. 5 finalists come through to the final round.
The competition is organised in cooperation with Czech and Slovak Universities and private companies, the organiser of the 2011 Award is Profinit, the media partner is PC revue. The auspices over this competition were taken over by professional organisations Czech ACM and Slovakia ACM. ACM SPY continues in the tradition of the ACM Student Research Competition that was organised in 2003 by Czech ACM and Czech and Slovak universities, joined by Slovakia ACM in 2009, and in the tradition of IT Thesis of the Year, that used to be organised by Profinit.
The following Czech and Slovak universities, with the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava providing the main organisational support in 2011, provide direct support for the competition, evaluate individual thesis and accept responsibility for their quality:
