For the leading Czech insurance company, Profinit implemented a project involving automated regression tests of a system for managing products related to life insurance. The system has been in operation for six years and contains approximately two million contracts.

Solution

Implementation of the project was related to a feasibility study of the solution that we had conducted previously. The result of the project was complete infrastructure for automated tests and several sets of fully automated regression tests based on HP Quality Center and HP Quick Test Professional technology. The results also included documentation for further maintenance and development of the tests, for which Profinit took responsibility following completion of the project.

• Regression tests covering approx. 70% of the system's functionalit.
• Reduction of errors and prevention of errors in operation - greater supervision of the quality of  key applications for life insurance.
• Daily automatic verification of the application's status for development teams - detection of errors that originated in development (it generally applies that the sooner an error is detected, the faster and cheaper it can be eliminated).
• An application is not handed over from development to testing if not all of the regression tests are in order, which lowers the costs associated with testing new functionalities, as it is not necessary to repeat manual tests after detecting regressions.
